Joining the Hamburg Players

The Hamburg Players e.V. is an "eingetragener Verein" (a registered society). To participate in our activities, you need to become a member and pay your yearly membership fee (see below).

The aims of the group are to give enjoyment to all those interested in the various aspects of theatre, amateur theatre in particular, and to stage three full-length productions a year in the English language. The group is run by a committee that consists of six elected members plus another two members to act as Hon. Treasurer & Hon. Secretary. Membership is open to anyone with some knowledge of and interest in the English language, irrespective of nationality or period of residence in Hamburg and its surrounding areas.

Membership Fees

The annual membership fee is €30 for single membership, €45 for families, and €15 for students and those living over 200 km from Hamburg.

Membership fees are due promptly when joining the group and subsequently on 1 September each year in order to maintain voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting and to be covered by our insurance for our activities.

As a paid-up member you can participate in various activities such as social get-togethers, workshops, play readings and - of course - our productions on stage. You also are insured during productions. In fact the latter is the reason why we must insist on you officially joining the Hamburg Players before you can participate in a show, be it on stage, backstage or front of house.

How to become a member

Becoming a member is easy: just fill in the membership form, send it back, and pay your membership fee. If you want to make things easier for us and you, you can use direct debit, thus making sure the membership fee is paid promptly once a year. The direct debit slip can be found at the bottom of the membership form.

Please note that the acceptance of your membership application is subject to the committee's approval.
