The Hamburg Players are sad to announce the death of  

Deb Kumar Roy 15.05.1938 - 21.02.2007  

Deb came to Hamburg from India in 1965, joining the HPs in 1966. He directed and acted in two plays, worked as stage manager and was actively involved in an organisational capacity. Deb was also fond of dancing and loved sports.

While in Hamburg he worked for HEW. He married Nupur on 29th June 1971, who joined him in Hamburg in 1972. In 1974, Deb and his family returned to India and he was made a Life Member of the Hamburg Players. Deb and Nupur's son, Anirban, was born on 26 June 1977, and he now works for Citibank in London.

Deb succumbed to a viral infection of pneumonia on 21 February, after fighting for his life in Intensive Care for 34 days.  

He always had a soft corner in his heart for The Hamburg Players and we are sure he will always be fondly remembered for the active role he played while he was here in Germany.
